Court

You tripped out of your car
You rolled across the road
Didn’t know what your eyes could see
Your balance let you free.

You’re waiting for someone to pick you up
While waiting you became a part of the road
You let people drive over you
And poison you with car smoke.

You blame the slippery road
You blame your worn out shoes
The truth remains that you fell
But instead of standing up you sue.

Don’t blame the shoes you walk in
Blame the feet walking in them.

Beach

His scaly skin grew gills
As he drowned in saline tears
He swam across the tears fast
But could not surface his own fears.

He used to live on the ground
The sunlight refracted through his hair
His lungs could breathe the breeze
He walked and the floor didn’t tear.

He swam and walked
But he never did reach
He couldn’t choose where to stop
He could never surface the beach.
